VidChecker
The next generation of file-based QC with intelligent automated correction
Using ContentAgent’s graphic and intuitive Workflow Designer tool, VidChecker can be dropped into an appropriate workflow where it sits as a node waiting to receive any material that needs QC. When designated files arrive they are checked for audio and video parameters in addition to specifications and characteristics, ensuring the materials meet defined broadcast quality and standards.
VidChecker differs from other file-based QC systems where, when typical errors are identified, files are then quarantined for human intervention. Uniquely, the innovative and patent-pending software applies intelligent automated correction. This overcomes the issues sometimes encountered with video legalisers which crush over-limit values and may consequently introduce degradation and artefacts into video images. VidChecker also detects flashing frames ensuring video meets OFCOM/ITU-R guidelines with respect to Photosensitive Epilepsy.
Audio loudness and peak levels, now a legal requirement in an increasing number of countries, are also automatically corrected. Multiple audio tracks, each with up to eight channels, can be checked in just one pass, and audio levels checked and automatically corrected to ITU-R 1770, ATSC A/85 and EBU R-128 audio loudness recommendations including Tech 3341 windowing and gating modes.
Fast in operation and scalable, VidChecker processes four files simultaneously with a single licence, but the throughput may be substantially increased with the adoption of parallel processors – JobAgents – for high-volume environments. During the QC process, three levels of checking may be implemented; warning only, fail on error or correct on error. A media player is integrated to play video at any generated alert points using alert thumbnails.
