Press Releases - Dolby Digital Plus

ContentAgent to support Dolby Digital Plus

London, UK,  September 30…ROOT6 Technology is adding the Dolby® Digital Plus digital audio injector within ContentAgent, its popular universal content repurposing platform. This will provide extremely low bit rate multichannel sound for web delivery.

Dolby Laboratories, Inc. developed Dolby Digital Plus for high definition programming and media and it supports a greater range of bitrates at higher quality with up to 7.1 audio channels.

“The incorporation of Dolby Digital Plus will be a significant addition to our post production deliverables,” said ContentAgent Product Manager Kevin King. “We are already fulfilling client demand for multi channel audio as part of an automated workflow and it’s clear that further advances such as Dolby Digital Plus will play an increasingly important role in the HD content experience.”

“Dolby Digital Plus is the next-generation audio technology for all high-definition programming and media. It combines the efficiency to meet future broadcast demands with the power and flexibility to realize the full audio potential of the upcoming high-definition experience. Built on Dolby Digital, the multichannel audio standard for DVD and HD broadcasts worldwide, Dolby Digital Plus was designed for the delivery formats of the future, but remains fully compatible with all current A/V receivers. With Dolby Digital Plus, you get even higher quality audio, more channels, and greater flexibility.”

ContentAgent is already equipped to transcode all commonly used audio formats including MP3, AC3, AAC, WAV, BWAV and AIFF files. Output may be via HD SDI or SD SDI with multichannel AES or analogue audio supported. With automated output to ftp, email, RSS and the web and to DVD using the system’s integral burner, the system has been designed to cater for all envisaged distribution requirements.
