AS-11 UK DPP
What is a DPP file?
In the United Kingdom, the DPP® (Digital Production Partnership) has agreed the UK’s first common file format, structure and wrapper to enable TV programmes to be delivered to major broadcasters by digital file, based on the AS-11 specification.
AS-11 is a new specification, created by AMWA (Advanced Media Workflow Association) as a subset of the MXF file format to use for delivery of finished programming from producers and distributors to broadcasters. AS-11 files are intended to be complete programmes that are ready for playout/transmission.
In the age of so many formats, codecs and wrappers the DPP must be commended for defining a set of parameters such as descriptive metadata which must be included to submit a valid file to a broadcaster. This metadata effectively replaces the information which would traditionally have been on a piece of paper inside the tape case.
ContentAgent automates the creation, validation and delivery of AS-11 UK DPP® files ready for transmission. In fact ContentAgent was one of the first products to be AMWA certified for AS-11 UK DPP® encoding and playback in September 2014.
