NAB 2010, Las Vegas, April 12
ROOT6 Technology introduced v3.0, a major new software release for ContentAgent, the universal workflow management platform.
The latest software iteration builds on ContentAgent’s established capabilities in transcoding, metadata management and workflow automation with the integration of third party expertise from industry leaders Tektronix, Telestream and Rimage. v3.0 software also delivers the benefits of parallel processing – important in transcode-intensive environments . A new Jobs tab in the familiar UI delivers the tools to intelligently manage and distribute rendering across JobAgents - affordable render accelerators.

For broadcasters wishing to incorporate fully automated QC into a file-based workflow, ContentAgent now supports Tektronix Cerify, the leading QC system for file-based content. Both video and audio files can now be QC’d automatically at any or every stage of the broadcast chain. ContentAgent’s workflow designer is used to create the appropriate template which is then infinitely repeatable by non-technical operators.

The integration with Telestream’s Episode Engine brings ContentAgent’s comprehensive workflow management and automation tools to the ProRes and QuickTime environment and make the system the first O/S agnostic content repurposing system available.

Building on the popular automated DVD authoring feature in the original system, integration with Rimage Digital Publishing Systems makes ContentAgent the heart of an all-embracing DVD and Blu-ray production system - from transcoding and authoring to label design and high quality disc printing. Like all ContentAgent workflows, the process may be fully automated and operated by non-technical staff.

“The service-based architecture underpinning ContentAgent enables us to integrate leading third party technologies through Application Programming Interfaces,” explains ROOT6 Technology’s John Harris. “This is considerably broadens the scope and appeal of ContentAgent which has now evolved way beyond its original role as a transcoding workhorse. Many of our customers use ContentAgent as the natural heart of their file-based workflow and the ability to incorporate an increasing number of third party applications will serve to strengthen that position.”
