Branded TV specialists enteraction tv has installed ContentAgent as part of a new broadcast transmission system developed for London TV. The new channel, the first of its type anywhere in the world, provides bite-sized entertainment and information to inspire Londoners to explore their own city and help visitors to make the most of their stay. London TV airs 24/7 on Sky Digital, channel 244.
The new channel based at Tower Bridge has a completely tapeless delivery environment. Alan Moore, Operations Director of enteraction tv explains. “We needed the flexibility to get content to air as quickly and cost effectively as possible. Using ContentAgent in our Tower Bridge production facility we encode material simultaneously to MPEG2 for broadcast and multiple other file formats for streaming on the channel’s affiliated website golondon.com.
“ContentAgent automatically delivers the broadcast material to the playout server via ftp where the scheduling system controlled from our office confirms that all content is in place prior to transmission. All the hassle with delivering, logging and storing tapes - and the associated media cost - is completely eliminated.”
For increased operational flexibility, ContentAgent enables simple job profiles to be created.
“We can set up different templates depending on the programme requirements” said Moore.
“We have the freedom to encode material in multiple file formats so we can choose the most appropriate. ContentAgent offers us the flexibility to achieve all of our delivery requirements in one box”
Based in Vauxhall, enteraction tv combines broadcast and programme making skills with a determination to re-engineer the whole process of television production. A new broadcast model has been developed, combining high volume and high quality television production with a low cost base that maximises clients’ return on investment.
